Description:
This flat bag from the KAGO series draws inspiration from traditional basketry. Developed through numerous prototypes informed by folk art baskets, the design is intentionally versatile and utilitarian. Crafted from cowhide, the bag is perforated and woven together using leather cord made from the same material, creating a structure that is both lightweight and durable. Each piece is fully handcrafted in the workshop, from cutting to weaving.
The punching process reduces the bag’s weight to approximately two thirds that of a standard leather bag. Initially matte in appearance, the leather gradually develops a soft hand and subtle sheen with use, highlighting the natural aging process unique to leather. A brass buckle allows the opening to be securely fastened, and an interior pocket provides space for essentials such as a phone, keys, or wallet.

Brothers Gen and Diasan Takahashi founded Irose in Tokyo, Japan. Every piece is handmade by traditional artisans in the the Asakusa district of Tokyo. Each product is both a work of minimalistic art and a technical tour de force, combining beauty and practicality.

These marks will soften with use and are part of the character of natural leather, not defects.

Returns must be made within 2 weeks in original, unused condition with all packaging for either 1. Store credit for the full amount or 2. Refund - minus a 20% restocking fee. Tortoise does not cover the cost of return shipping or the cost of re-shipping an exchange, and the cost of shipping for returns and exchanges is the responsibility of the customer.
