Horizon Tea Cup

The Horizon Tea Cup is an exploration of material honesty and restrained form. Designed by Sebastian Bergne and crafted in southern Japan using traditional porcelain-making techniques, its minimalist silhouette draws attention to the character of the ceramic itself.

Made from a porcelain blend infused with naturally occurring earth grains, the material contains fine mineral flecks and organic particulates that create a subtle speckled appearance and tactile depth. A soft matte glaze coats the vessel, providing a velvety finish while intentionally leaving portions of the raw porcelain exposed. This interplay between glazed and unglazed surfaces highlights the material’s natural composition, celebrating its texture and tonal variation rather than concealing it.

The result is a thoughtfully balanced object that combines the refinement of porcelain with the richness of earthy inclusions, creating a versatile vessel distinguished by its understated material expression and everyday functionality.
