Description:
The Yuuki sake set is based on the oval form and includes one porcelain tokurri pitcher and two sake cups. Conceived by Designer Komatsu Makoto and made from porcelain with a clean sand-finished surface then glazed. Komatsu-san envisioned a shape that whimsically nods to the tipsy feeling after a few drinks. Shaped in an organic form with ovular curves that invite your hands to easily grasp. For further amusement, placing the large sake cup on top the pitcher reveals a snowman figure. As a final touch, the pitcher and two sake cups are presented in a gray pasteboard gift box.

History:
Ceramic Japan has been manufacturing ceramic pieces in Seto, Japan since 1973. Known for collaborating with top level artists and designers, Ceramic Japan pairs high artistic quality with traditional ceramic techniques. Many designs from Ceramic Japan are held in MOMA’s permanent collection. Frequent Ceramic Japan collaborator Makoto Komatsu describes the "Crinkle/Crumple" series as the most important work of his career. The line was inspired by accidental paper imprints he would notice on plaster molds used for mass producing ceramics.
