Nambu Tekki Trivet

Nambu tekki is a traditional ironware craft that began in the middle of the 17th century in Northern Japan -- an area rich with iron resources. Nambu tekki has a distinct black color, the result of a Japanese lacquer glaze called "urushi" that is coated onto the iron to prevent rust. This iron trivet was designed and forged by Nobuho Miya. Miya works in his family's ironware studio, Kamasada, in the Iwate prefecture of Japan. With more than 40 years of experience, he practices Nambu techniques and is considered one of the living masters of this ancient art. The trivet's deisgn can be enjoyed alone, displayed on a table or a shelf, or underneath a vase or sculpture. When cooking, place your hot cookware on top of the iron trivet to protect your tabletop surface.
