Takizawa Plywood Koishi Paperweights
This playful paperweight is made of "Paper-Wood," an innovation from Takizawa Plywood. "Paper-Wood" is made with colorful, recycled paper and veneer layers. Plywood is often thought of as a cheap and throw-away material, but this bright paperweight is an example of Takizawa's transformative innovation. Unlike painted wood, the colorful paper lines will never fade or flake off. The Takizawa Stone Paperweight plays with the natural form of stone and the natural texture of wood, while brightening up any office space.

History:
Hokkaido, the northernmost prefecture in Japan, is known for paper production and woodworking. Takizawa Plywood celebrates its local industry by creating "paper-wood," a new plywood made from recycled color paper and layered veneer. All of the wood was grown locally in Hokkaido. “Paper-Wood” has a colorful cross-section surface with beautiful aesthetic expressions absent from conventional plywood. This material has been used in numerous buildings and interiors by renowned designers and architects. It received the Good Design Award in 2010.
