Niime Ni Cap
$155.00
Description:
The NI Cap is a clean, baseball-style cap created by Takami Niime to commemorate The Man Who Connected Baseball to Yakyu (Japanese for baseball), a biography of Jun Imazato, an ardent baseball enthusiast who bridged Japan and the United States from his hometown of Nishiwaki, where Tamaki Niime is based. After World War II, Imazato, a dentist in Nishiwaki, followed Major League Baseball through shortwave radio and exchanged letters with teams across the United States. His dedication earned recognition from the Japan–US Baseball Association, and his personal scorebook is now preserved in the Baseball Hall of Fame in New York.
Named in his honor, the NI Cap draws its initials from:
- Nishiwaki
- Nishiwaki's Imazato
- Tamaki Niime
The cap features an embroidered logo and a traditional “chrysanthemum hole” for ventilation, details that echo classic baseball cap construction. Made from denim that softens and ages beautifully over time.

History:
Based in the textile rich region of Hyogo Japan, Niime pieces are woven on large industrial looms in the traditional style of Japanese weaving called 'Banshu-ori'. This method of weaving was revived by Tamaki Niime back in 2006 after it was effectively made extinct in the mid-80's after being the traditional method of weaving kimonos since the 1700s. Tamaki Niime sought to grow her own materials, including the organic cotton in her weaves, and has a working field next to her looms. Today her entire process of making each piece - from the growing of cotton, to the dying of the thread, to the weaving - is all maintained in 1 place.
