Description:
Inspired by the hexagonal tiles found in Niime's Kamakura shop, this bucket hat is made from a single piece of fabric with minimal seams for a soft, easy fit. Lightweight cotton keeps it comfortable through the warmer months, whether you're spending the day outdoors or heading across town, while the hexagonal brim creates a gentle wave around the head.

History:
Based in the textile rich region of Hyogo Japan, Niime pieces are woven on large industrial looms in the traditional style of Japanese weaving called 'Banshu-ori'. This method of weaving was revived by Tamaki Niime back in 2006 after it was effectively made extinct in the mid-80's after being the traditional method of weaving kimonos since the 1700s.  Tamaki Niime sought to grow her own materials, including the organic cotton in her weaves, and has a working field next to her looms.  Today her entire process of making each piece - from the growing of cotton, to the dying of the thread, to the weaving - is all maintained in 1 place.
