Kiridashi Woodcarving Knife - Lefty
A traditional all-purpose knife used for woodworking and bamboo crafting for the LEFT-HANDED. Comes in a handle and scabbard made of Hoh (magnolia). The blade is beveled only on one side, creating a thinner edge compared to a knife beveled on both sides, which allows extremely fine cuts. Also, only the beveled side requires the main sharpening so less time is required for maintenance.
Variation in the natural wood grain. Knives that are not hammered but manually forged employ metals such as pre-bonded steel. They are shaped by pressing devices holding the Kiridashi knife molds. This results in a few varieties in terms of size and weight.
Baishinshi is a brand produced by a blacksmithing family who has been forging carving knives and chisels for more than 250 years. Currently the 7th generation took over as "Baishinshi Kunimitsu", the family blacksmith name.
