Irose Kago Shoulder Tote Large
$585.00
Description:
Inspired by traditional basketry, the KAGO tote is constructed from perforated cowhide panels woven together with matching leather cord. The punched construction defines both the structure and the visual language of the bag. Each piece is handcrafted in-house, from cutting to weaving.
The perforations reduce the overall weight to approximately two-thirds that of a standard leather tote, resulting in a lighter, more balanced carry. The leather begins with a matte finish and gradually develops a subtle sheen and softer texture through use, reflecting the natural aging of the material.
The bag features a wide gusset and open top for straightforward access, secured with a snap closure. A large interior open pocket organizes smaller items such as a phone or keys. The double-layered base provides stability, allowing the bag to retain its shape and stand upright. Long handles are proportioned for shoulder carry. When left unfastened, the interior accommodates A4 documents or a 13-inch laptop.
Lightweight, durable, and seasonless, the KAGO tote prioritizes material efficiency, structural clarity, and everyday function.
History:
Brothers Gen and Diasan Takahashi founded Irose in Tokyo, Japan. Every piece is handmade by traditional artisans in the the Asakusa district of Tokyo. Each product is both a work of minimalistic art and a technical tour de force, combining beauty and practicality.
