Horizon Tea Bowl
Crafted from a porcelain blend infused with naturally occurring earth grains, this tea bowl reveals fine mineral flecks and organic particulates throughout the clay body, creating a subtle speckled appearance and tactile depth. A soft matte glaze envelops the surface, while select areas of raw porcelain remain exposed, highlighting the material’s natural texture and tonal variation. The contrast between glazed and unglazed surfaces celebrates the character of the clay rather than concealing it.
Thoughtfully proportioned for preparing and serving matcha, the bowl's open form provides ample space for whisking, allowing the tea to develop a smooth, velvety froth. Once prepared, matcha can be enjoyed directly from the bowl in the traditional manner, creating a seamless connection between preparation and ritual.

History:For more than four centuries, the town of Hasami has been one of Japan’s most celebrated centers of porcelain production, where generations of artisans have refined techniques rooted in both utility and beauty. Today, Tokyo Saikai builds on this legacy by partnering with local kilns and internationally recognized designers, creating collections that preserve the region’s craft while introducing it to a modern audience.
The Ha collection, developed with designer Sebastian Bergne, reflects this thoughtful exchange between tradition and innovation. Familiar forms such as tea cups, bowls, spouted bowls, and bamboo whisks are carefully reimagined with restrained proportions and contemporary detailing, resulting in pieces that feel at once traditional and refined. By looking forward while remaining grounded in Hasami’s rich ceramic heritage, the collection offers a fresh expression of Japanese tea culture for the modern table.
