Description:
This gray, minimalist, cubist, painted Hinoki-wood framed mobile, suspended in air by transparent strings was designed by Tokyo-based designer, Shigeki Fujishiro. FRAMES, Fujishiro's series of colorful graphical mobiles, were all heavily influenced by artists such as Marcel Duchamp and Alexander Calder, both of whom succeeded in expressing space and time enabled by motion. Fujishiro personally hand-makes each mobile, applying transparent strings to the almost weightless wooden frames, giving them the appearance of floating objects, casting a charming symphony of moving shadows an as added element of joy.

Shigeki Fujishiro (b.1974), began his professional career working for the furniture design company in Japan called IDEE, before establishing his own design firm Shigeki Fujishiro Design in 2005 - creating furniture, home goods, and interior products that balance utility with a refined sense of form. Alongside collaborations with brands including Hermès and adidas, Shigeki Fujishiro develops independent projects that explore materials and craftsmanship through contemporary design. Recent work includes Knit! with Denmark's Kvadrat, OUR BAMBOO with Japan Creative, and the AJI Project, which highlights the distinctive Aji stone of Kagawa Prefecture.

Care Instructions:
Extremely delicate mobile. Instructions will be provided to show how to remove mobile from its box without breaking the string. Mobile must be lifted out of the box in stages and slowly to prevent extra strain on the string, then hung gently in desired location. Dust occasionally as needed. Light breeze will cause the mobile to move gently, but it is not meant to withstand strong winds. Keep away from children.
