Description:
Handcrafted in Wakayama Japan, this hand-size palm fiber brush has an angled tip to allow for easy and efficient cleaning of corners and narrow spaces.  With a helpful loop to hang the brush when not in use, this water-resistant shuro brush is part of the long and rich history of brush making in Japan.  Durable enough for daily household use, but made from a fiber gentle enough for non-traditional surfaces like sweeping the dirt off of house plants or from fruit, or sweeping dust embedded in organic woven surfaces like tatami.

History: 
Broom making is considered a protected craft in Wakyama, Japan.  Founded in 1948, Takada Kozo Shoten specializes in palm fiber crafts using techniques developed during Japan's Edo period. Currently led by the company's third-generation, Daisuke Takada of Takeda Kozo Shoten rekindled the traditional use windmill palm trees grown locally to craft their brooms, after several years of dedicated effort to  successfully developed  ashuro tawashi using high quality windmill palm bark sourced through strictly organic farming methods.

Care Instructions:
Intended for indoor use only.  Palm fiber is water resistant so you may clean the broom with water if it becomes extremely dirty.  Be sure to dry it completely before using again (it may take one to two weeks).  Hang it out of the path of direct sunlight.  

 

Returns must be made within 2 weeks in original, unused condition with all packaging for either 1. Store credit for the full amount or 2. Refund - minus a 20% restocking fee.  Tortoise does not cover the cost of return shipping or the cost of re-shipping an exchange, and the cost of shipping for returns and exchanges is the responsibility of the customer.
