Noda Horo Enamel Containers w/ Handle

$40.00 Sale Save

Description:
This one-handled food container by Noda Horo comes in 2 sizes. Made from enamel coated steel with a silicone lid, its multi-purpose design allows it to be placed in the fridge or freezer to hold leftovers or other food items, then taken out of the fridge/freezer and placed on the stove (when the container is brought back up to room temperature), to serve as a cooking vessel. Enamel is essentially melted glass, so the surface is glossy and attractive and naturally anti-bacterial, and won't impart unwanted taste to the food contained inside.

Variation:
The enamel coating on each container is done carefully by hand and may show unevenness around the rim. This is a normal feature of enamel coated steel, however this exposed steel must be dried thoroughly to prevent rust - see 'Care Instructions' below.

History:
Since its establishment in 1934, Noda Horo Co.,Ltd. has been producing beautiful and functional enamelware for over 80 years. This handled enamel container is part of Noda Horo's "White Series", which was developed and designed by long-time Noda Horo employee and wife to the company's CEO, Shibata Fumie, when she became a mother. Fumie wanted a multi-purpose container that could serve as 1. food storage, 2. cooking vessel and 3. tableware to maximize the beauty and functionality of her kitchen.

Measurement:
Enamel container tall: 5.25'' D x 4.75'' H x 6'' (width with handle)
Enamel container short and wide: 6.25'' D x 4.25'' H x 7'' (width with handle)

Materials:
Enamel coated steel (body), silicone (lid).

Care Instructions:
Oven safe (without lid). Gas stove safe (without lid). Not compatible with induction stoves or electric stoves, and not microwave safe because it is metal. When placing the contaier on the stove, make sure the container is at room temperature and not cold (straight out of the fridge or freezer). Be sure to set the stove to medium or low, and not have the gas flame go beyond the diameter of the container to overheat/burn the sides. This container is hand-wash only and dry immediately. Do not leave wet, or leave immersed in water - because any exposed steel surfaces, naturally occurring in areas around the rim, may rust over time. Rust is not harmful to the body, but may not be desired visually. Do not use abrasive metal scrubbers to wash this container. This may cause the enamel surface to scratch off. Enamel surfaces are sensitive to chipping and dents if banged against a hard surface.
