Inspired by nature, this pendant necklace features a pinkish brown tourmaline set in an 18k yellow gold scarab signet. In ancient Egypt, a civilization which placed great emphasis on the magical qualities of jewelry, the scarab beetle was a symbol of the sun god Re and therefore one of the civilization’s most popular amulets.

Rather than relying on molds, Mizuki Tsurutaka, the designer behind Black Barc, handcrafts all of her work using traditional Japanese blacksmithing techniques. Tsurutaka is based in Los Angeles. She shares her studio with her husband Yusuke Muramatsu, designer of Prospective Flow.
