Tortoise is a curated multi-functional retail space dedicated to Japanese design, craft and art.
We are currently seeking an enthusiastic store associates for a full-time position at our brick and mortar location in Mar Vista, California.
- Position: Full-Time Associate with weekend availability

- Language: English fluency required. Bilingual English-Japanese fluency is welcomed.
- Salary: $23/hour (training period) / TBD (full-time salary)
- Hours: 40 hours per week
Full-time store associate will focus on creating a welcoming customer service experience, help manage the daily operations of Tortoise with a small and diverse team, and maintain an organized inventory and strong visual display. Full-time employees must be available to work eight hour shifts on their designated shift days for the entirety of our business hours: Tuesday - Saturday 10 AM to 6:30 PM and Sunday 9 AM to 5:30 PM. All candidates must also be available to work weekends and will be contracted to work through the upcoming holiday season (October 2023 - January 2024).
All professional backgrounds are welcomed for this position. The preferred candidate has a strong passion for Tortoise, with a shared enthusiasm for our store's core concept and mission. Our ideal part-time/full-time candidate is flexible, self-motivated and has a natural ability to deliver compassionate and friendly customer service to our guests, as well as internally with our team members. We're also looking for a candidate with strong writing skills, strong communication skills and a strong team attitude.
