05/03 Workshop: making Silk Scarf or Furoshiki with Steam dye technique by Alisa Benfey
Discover the beauty of natural dyeing with our Kusaki-zome workshop! Did you know that flower petals, fallen leaves, and kitchen scraps can create stunning colors and patterns on fabric using simple kitchen tools?
Join textile designer Alisa Benfey for an immersive 2.5-hour session, where you'll learn the basics of natural dyeing and the unique steam dyeing technique. Participants will create beautiful dyed fabrics using an ecological approach that brings vibrant natural colors to life.
You’ll leave with two stunning silk pieces—one in white and one in a pre-dyed base. Furoshiki is a versatile Japanese fabric used for wrapping gifts and carrying items. During the class, you’ll also master special folding techniques!
