Cuckoo Clock (2)
Crafted by Rhythm Watch in the same tradition of cuckoo clocks made in Black Forest of Germany over 200 years ago, this cuckoo clock operates with a pipe organ mechanism - not seen in current cuckoo clocks today.
Established in 1950 in Tokyo Japan, Rhythm Watch collaborated with designer and Tortoise owner, Taku Shinomoto, to create this simple and sweet house shaped cuckoo clock with a bird that springs in and out to announce the hourly time.
The cuckoo sound made by this clock is natural, and without the use of modern digital equipment or recorded sound. Rather the sound is achieved using similar principles like that to a pipe organ, but much smaller to fit inside the clock.
As air is rushed through 2 separate pipes that each create a different syllable of sound, together they become the cuckoo clock's distinct call.
