Crafted by Rhythm Watch in the same tradition of the iconic cuckoo clocks made in Black Forest Germany over 200 years ago, this clock operates with a pipe organ mechanism not seen in modern cuckoo clocks today. The unique mechanism ensures the sound made hourly is natural, since it doesn't use modern digital equipment or recorded sound. Rather the sound is achieved using mechanical principles similar to that of a pipe organ, but much smaller to fit inside a clock. As air is rushed through 2 separate pipes that each create a different syllable of sound, together they harmonize to become the cuckoo clock's distinct call.
Rhythm Watch Co., Ltd. was established in 1950 in Tokyo, Japan, and was awarded the prestigious W. Edward Deming award for Quality Applications. This unique cuckoo clock is a collaborative work designed with Tortoise owner, Taku Shinomoto.
