Description:
Woven on large industrial looms using a traditional kimono weaving technique called 'Banshu-ori', Tamaki Niime's Suton Dress is made of 100% organic cotton that is grown and harvested by the designer herself in Hyogo, Japan. The dress has a straight silhouette with two side slits. A simple cut places the focus on the fabric. Niime's beautiful signature horizontal and vertical stripes appear in varying widths, color combinations and compositions. Versatile in its design, the Suton Dress can also be paired with pants and worn as a tunic. Made in Japan.

History:
Since 2006, Niime Tamaki has overseen all stages of her production line, including the growing of the cotton, dyeing of the thread, and weaving of the finished product. Her work is colorful, original and distinctive, an infusion of the designer’s effortless style into comfortable and easy-to-wear clothing. Banshu-ori, the kimono weaving technique Niime employs, has a long history dating back to 1792. The style is characterized by yarn-dyed fabrics that are dyed first and woven into a variety of patterns.

Each dress is an “Only One” garment. This concept means that the garment photographed is a one-off item, the only one in existence with these colors and cut. For every “Only One” garment, Tamaki Niime chooses different thread colors, so each item is totally unique from other woven garments within their line.
Care Instructions:
Hand-wash recommended. Machine washer safe on delicate with cold water and a gentle detergent in a delicates’ bag. Do not bleach. Hang dry only.

Returns must be made within 2 weeks in original, unused condition with all packaging for either 1. Store credit for the full amount or 2. Refund - minus a 20% restocking fee. Tortoise does not cover the cost of return shipping or the cost of re-shipping an exchange, and the cost of shipping for returns and exchanges is the responsibility of the customer.
