Sori Yanagi Ceramics (Black)
This rare line of ceramics designed by Sori Yanagi is made from semiporcleain, a mixed material lighter than porcelain and stronger than earthenware, not traditionally used for tableware. Their rectangular shape with soft rounded edges combined with a matte finish give each of these pieces a timeless look. Yanagi is best known for his award-winning kitchenwares and flatwares, making this long-discontinued tableware set from the renowned Japanese industrial designer a rare find. Sori Yanagi's kitchen product series began with an extensive line of cutlery in 1974, and has since expanded to include pots, pans, kettles, colanders, bowls, knives, utensils and cast iron grills. Yanagi's designs nurture simplicity and seek out small ideas with big impact. A legendary master of industrial design, Yanagi is considered to be one of Japan's most influential product designers and leader of the country's industrial post-war design movement.
There is some variation on the plate including texture and glaze finish. You may see some spots and discoloration in the glaze which is a natural feature of the ceramics and not considered a defect or flaw.
Microwave safe and dishwasher safe. Do not put in the oven.
