Ceramic Cocker Spaniel Figurine
There's an undeniable feeling of nostalgia when you first lay your eyes on kiln-owners, Sadami and Keiko's perfectly poised ceramic dogs. Maybe its hidden in the expression that reminds you of your beloved family pet, or maybe you remember your grandmother having similar figurines in her home while you were growing up. Whatever the reason may be, this ceramic Poodle is sure to put a smile on your face whenever it comes into view. Enjoy the hand-painted expressive faces and the life like 3-dimensional body that gives each dog its charming, statuesque appearance.
Hand painted ceramic dogs will have slight variations among each individual one. Ceramic crazing can appear near the belly area of the dog over time due to the natural elements of the glaze.
Husband & wife kiln masters Nagae Sadami (70) and his wife Keiko (63) have been making ceramic dogs, cats, and dolls for over 50 years at a kiln started by Keiko's father in 1948. Each dog is first sketched by Keiko, then made in a mold by Sadami. Once the dog is fired in the kiln, Keiko hand-paints each dog's face and Sadami airbrush paints the body and each pup's coloration details.

Wipe with fabric for dust. Each piece is extremely fragile because the body is completely hollow. Please handle gently and with care, paying extra attention to parts like the nose and tip of nail so they don't break when handling.
