Ubugi Baby Kimono
Traditionally, 'ubugis' are the first kimono that mothers give to their newborn babies in Japan. What's so clever about this ubugi is that it can be worn for up to 24 months! When the baby is a newborn, the ubugi reaches down to their feet and can be fit snuggly using the inner ribbon for a nice fit. As the baby grows, you'll find hidden stitches inside the shoulder that can be cut, extending the entire arm sleeve and turning the kimono into a kimono shirt! A baby product that will last 0 to 24 months (and beyond) is sadly a rare occurrence these days, which makes this ubugi a treasure for new parents! Made from a 100% cotton cloth called tenugui, the fabric for this ubugi is hand-dyed in Japan by extremely skilled craftspeople and will only become lovelier with each wash, softening beautifully over time.
Variation:
Each kimono is handmade so there may be slight variation, however every ubugi is one-standard-size. The fabric used is hand-dyed so slight variation may occur.
