These horn inspired bookends are sold as a pair, and have become an iconic design of master craftsman Rikuchou Ogasawara. Made with traditional techniques from the Iwate region of Japan, the cast iron is modern and classic at the same time. An appropriately understated yet distinct design to hold up your beloved books - place on your shelf or right on your desk as a visual centerpiece.

History: 
Born in Mizusawa, Rikuchou Ogasawara was the son of a cast iron foundry craftsman and worked alongside his father starting at 16 years of age.  While inheriting the techniques of Nambu ironware, he used these techniques to pioneer cast iron crafts into more modern designs using traditional production processes. With a career spanning over 60 years, a wide range of household products showcase the depth and range of his raw iron mastery. Ogasawara passed away at the age of 83 in 2012.
