Flatworks Can #9 (2018) by Mitsuru Koga
Flatworks is an exploration of the ordinary things through an extra-ordinary eye. With great skill and mysterious methods, Mitsuru Koga shows us a colorful world in which we can marvel at tools and objects with renewed appreciation. Koga gives vibrancy to these still life objects found in his atelier by making them into two dimensional forms using the objects original materials.
Koga's two-dimensional paint cans are made from sheets of tinu sed for actual paint cans. Koga solders the edges together with great precision and pours real paint inside.
Each flatwork piece is signed with the artist's signature and is displayed in a wooden frame and acrylic.
