E: 古賀さんはアーティストであり、お二人のお子さんのお父さんでもあります。 ご家族の皆さんは、コロナウィルスのパンデミック後どのようにお過ごしでしょうか。生活の中で大きな変化はありましたか? M: 家にアトリエがありますし、作品を作ることは、一人でできることなので、特に変化はないと思っていました。実際は、子どもの学校が休みになり、妻も在宅で仕事するようになったことで、家族みんなで家で過ごす毎日になり、なかなか一人になれないという状況に変わりました。 一緒にできることを楽しもうと、工作をしたり、野菜を育ててみたり、虫をとりにいったり、、普段はできないようなことを日々、ワークショップのようにしていました。 海が近いこともあり、人のいない時間や場所を選んで、時々海で子どもたちと遊んで、気分転換したりもしていました。 今は日本では学校が再開していて、少しずつ今まで通りの制作の時間を取り戻しつつあります。 E: 古賀さんが Flat Works/ Boxを制作を始められたきっかけを教えてください。また、制作の工程などについて少しお話しいただけますか?M:  はじめは、ダンボール専用のカッターを使って作品を作る企画展に参加したのがきっかけでした。 その中で、身の回りには様々なダンボール箱があることに気づき、それを作品にしたいと思いました。 人間の手が加わると、人工物も自然物と同じように一つしかないものになるということが面白いなと思っています。 多くのダンボールを観察し、それらをモチーフにシルクスクリーンやテープなどを組み合わせて、手仕事で制作しています。 E: コロナウィルス下の生活で、作品制作に変化はありましたか?時間が使いやすくなった、クリエイティビティに変化があったなど、ありましたら教えてください。 M:   生活と制作はつながっていて、どちらも大切なことなので、現在も試行錯誤の途中です。まだまだです。笑 マスクをしたり、なるべくものに触れないようにしたりする生活の中で、空気感を感じたり、直接触れたりすることを無意識的に避けていたことに、最近気づきました。 ものは目で見ることができますが、そこにある空気や、気配、触れた感触など、やっぱり大切なんだなあとあらためて感じました。 今は、安全に気をつけながらも、そこにあるものをなるべく感じるよう意識的に心がけています。 E: 例えば Wire Treeなど、古賀さんの作品は、観る人に驚きや関心を与えてくれます。(お客さんの多くは、最初それが電線や針金でできているという概念で作品を観ていないので、とてもびっくりされ、感動されます。)どのようなインスピレーションで作品の制作をされているのでしょうか。なぜこれらのマテリアルを使用されているのですか? M: 全ては、日常にあるものの観察から始まっています。自然物と人工物を切り分けて考えることが多いかもしれませんが、自分にはどこかでそれらがつながっているような感じがあって、その共通するところを探して、作品にしたいと考えています。どの作品も、身近な場所で見つけた木を撮影して、それらをモチーフにひとつひとつ作品にしています。 E:...
