Tortoise is a curated multi-functional retail space dedicated to Japanese design, craft, and art since 2003.
We are currently seeking enthusiastic candidates for one full-time position and one to two part-time seasonal positions at our brick-and-mortar location in Mar Vista, California.
Store Associate (Regular, Full-Time)
The Full-Time Store Associate will focus on creating a welcoming customer service experience, help manage the daily operations of Tortoise with a small and diverse team, and maintain an organized inventory and strong visual display. In addition, the individual who fills this role will help grow and maintain our online store using best practices to increase sales across our varied e-commerce channels and platforms.
The Full-Time Store Associate must be available to work eight-hour shifts on their designated shift days for the entirety of our business hours: Tuesday - Saturday 10 AM to 6:30 PM and Sunday 9 AM to 5:30 PM. All candidates must also be available to work weekends and will be expected to work through the upcoming holiday season: October 2024 - January 2025.
Start date: As soon as possible.
Language: English fluency is required. Japanese fluency is welcome.
Compensation: $23/hour, hourly (training period) / TBD, salary; commensurate with experience.
Hours: 40 hours per week.
Store Associate (Seasonal, Part-Time)
Part-Time Seasonal Store Associates will focus on helping us pack and ship orders this holiday season! Our small, dedicated team is passionate about artisanal Japanese products and design, and we're looking for one to two quick-learning, dependable, and positive applicants to join our team.
Duration: November 2024 to December 24, 2024.
Language: English fluency is required. Japanese fluency is welcome.
Hours: Tuesday through Sunday, 1 PM to 6 PM. 15 to 30 hours per week.
Compensation: $22 - $25/hour, hourly; commensurate with experience.
